Course Introduction
Target Audience: The course is intended for all construction sector professionals who use a computer in their work.
Prerequisites: There are no special requirements for participating in the course; it is suitable for computer users of all levels.
What will you learn in this course?
- General Computer Use: You will learn the basic functions of Windows, Word, and Excel, and receive useful tips on how to streamline your workflows using keyboard shortcuts and the mouse.
- Cloud Services and File Management: You will gain knowledge on using cloud services such as Dropbox and OneDrive, secure file management, and best practices for version control.
- Digital Security: You will learn how to create secure passwords, implement multi-factor authentication (MFA), and back up your data to protect yourself against cyber threats.
- AutoCAD Tips and Workflows: You will be introduced to useful AutoCAD tools, including LISP scripts and file comparisons, which help in designing more smoothly and efficiently.
- BIM and IFC File Handling: You will receive an overview of BIM requirements, IFC file formats, and the use of various software for managing models and documents.
General Objective of the Training: The course focuses on learning practical working techniques that simplify daily computer work and increase efficiency among construction sector professionals.
The duration of the training is approximately 3 hours and 20 minutes and it consists of three major blocks prepared by Janno Otsmaa, Taavi Liiv, and Kert Aavere.
The training curriculum is approved by the Estonian Association of Civil Engineers, and you will earn 2.6 continuing professional development (CPD) points for completing it.
